This was my first year taking any kind of art class/ ceramic class before. I really enjoyed getting to take art this year and getting to learn so many different art techniques that I will take with me as I venture off into college. In my first semester of art, I feel like I struggled a bit with my skills because I had no previous experience. I feel as the year went along I gained more and more experience which blossomed my particular skills I never thought I was capable of as an artist. Each of my art projects shows shape/form, color and texture to create emphasis and movement in my ceramic projects and art projects.
First of all with my ceramics projects, I demonstrated a steady progression throughout this class. From my pinch pot, to Franken pot then to my planter you can definitely see that I have improved my ceramic skills. Each of my projects here have their own defined shape, such as the flower bowl which is obviously shaped as a bowl, but then an added flower in the center which is what is being emphasized. The same with my coil pot, which I used rolled up clay pieces wrapped around each other to create the bowl from the certain shapes, and you can surly see the texture used in that project as well.
Next are my Intermediate art projects. These projects are the ones that showed the most type of different colors used to create a movement or emphasis on a certain thing. For example, my motivational poster is used with only two colors to make the shapes be more emphasized. In my still life, even though there is a giant pair of scissors crossing the flower, my main goal was to use the colors and the shapes of the items to create a smooth movement and to exaggerate the flower a bit. All of the other projects, such as my choice, and landscapes, are all used dramatically with color to give it a emphasized look on a main point.
All of my projects here demonstrated the art elements of color and, with most, texture to show movement and emphasis in my art. I am pleased with my projects this year in art, and will for sure continue to be painting outside of school in my free time.
